 It is quite normal for autistic people to have a special interest, an obsession that dominates their thinking and doing throughout their lives. At the age of seven Raj Brightman, an Asperger's boy, could not accept that no one knew what happened after death. No one could explain why we are here, or even the who, what, or why of God. He concluded that until these questions were answered, no others were worth asking.

This became his obsession. What separated him from others was his severe dyslexia, which made reading too painful a proposition to even ponder. Despite having never read a book and only attending school until the age of thirteen, he maintained an enduring love for words.
